| St. Vincent De Paul Society Our purpose is to help people in need. The Deer Park group (Conference) has been helping local residents for over 50 years by visiting anyone who calls for assistance. Members assess their needs and give assistance as required. Most requests are for food parcels, but clothing, furniture, household requirements and other assistance can also be provided. Many calls for help result from substance abuse or from damaged relationships within families. If on-going help is required, Society members seek to find and address the underlying problems so that the disadvantaged person may recover his dignity and self-esteem and, hopefully, not become dependant on welfare hand-outs.
