A SHORT COURSE ON SPIRITUALITY

IV. “Lost in Space"

Gen 2:18 “It is not good that the man should be alone”.
Everyone is called to person communion.

Vocation consists of 1. Call, 2. Response, 3. Confirmation
Pope John Paul II: “There is no true vocation that is not born of the Church and for the Church”.

It is an
invitation not a command. Therefore it is not a sin if one does not welcome the Lord’s call but it will mean that we will not completely fulfil God’s “Plan A” for us. Accordingly, we won’t be as happy because God has made us for our vocation.

The universal
call to holiness through Baptism.
Called to holiness
through my vocation.

God
chooses to need me. Nobody else can give God my love.

The Annunciation (
Luke 1:26f.) - the specific, deliberate, personal call.

But I don’t feel worthy – That’s because you’re not.
“Every saint has a past; every sinner has a future”.

DISCERNMENT
How do you know??? “This completes me”. “I feel made for it”. “I feel at home”.

What will best help me to love? - My personal story – “Why not?”

Beware of having too strict criteria for discernment. This can be an excuse for not acting/not taking a step in trust. Remember, all that is needed is sufficient certainty not perfect certainty.

The person who is open to everything is likely to realize nothing.
   Fear of commitment.

All delay is not of the devil. Prudence is what must guide us = practical judgment according the present specific circumstances.
What Does God have in mind for you?
